Planning and Support
The Provost is responsible for the oversight of the University’s academic programs, which are largely planned, implemented, and administered under the auspices of the deans. Together with the deans and department chairs, the Office of the Provost works to strengthen the University’s excellence in scholarship and education.
The Office of the Provost supports deans, chairs, search committees, and tenure review committees through both annual processes, such as allocations of budget and space, and day-to-day faculty matters.
The Office of the Provost convenes and supports the Faculty Working Group on Administrative Improvements, a body that reviews administrative rules, policies, processes, and practices as they relate to academic efforts, with the goal of pursuing University teaching and research more effectively.
Since 2000, the University has added approximately one million square feet of academic space to campus. The Office of the Provost maintains a space inventory and provides support for new and renovated facilities.
Through the Budget Office, the Office of the Provost manages, administers, and implements the University’s operating, long-term planning and capital budgets. The Budget Office also provides strategic and operational leadership in financial planning and analysis.
